1st Open Show of the Season

The Club had a nice turn-out for our double-judged show, held on April 17. Our judges, Debbie Donnoly and Chris Slauson had nice entries although I don't have exact numbers yet, but our halter classes had up to 11 horses in a class, and our Open Western classes had 6 to 8 riders. We had a few Walk Trotters in the 10 & under, and a few in our W/T 11 & over.

This year we have 2 Leadliners - a brother combo. Austin, the youngest, rode Tucker in the Equitation class, and Ethan rode Tucker in the Trail class. Both took home soft horsey pals, donated by Laura and Tob Fowler.

I'll post other results over the weekend, and a photo or two. In the meantime, the Club extends a very big THANKS to the Kay and Rick Green and their three wonderful kids. Special shout out to Britany, Justin and Cody. And your freckled friend; oh, yeah, and Little D for helping draw the winning raffle tickets. Much appreciation to all of them for the hard work, great brownies and incredible chicken fajitas! The Snack Shack brought in $118.

MRVHA raffled several prizes that we had, in the past, bought for High Points. The raffle winners took home Herman Oak reins, a grooming apron, two double-sided bridle bags, an English garment bag, and a Western Saddle cover, which brought in $85.

It was nice seeing a few old friends at the show, as well as new exhibitors. And Taylor, thanks for stewarding! We hope to see you soon. :-)

The next show is the 3rd Annual Desert Color Classic on May 19, so we need to get together for another meeting before that show. We'll have the April show report and a Treasurer's report, and we have to take care of arrangements for ribbons, High Point Awards, etc. I believe the Greens enjoyed themselves so much they've volunteered to run the Snack Shack again!

I will take a look at the calendar tomorrow and post a few dates. We will need to have a quorum, but especially want your input. And this is such a great group, that it's nice just to have a light meal together and talk horse. Hope you will join us - I'll let you know when.

~Lisa, the Announcer ;-)
